The state of Michigan

Has come up with a dandy new law that essentially forces all its ladyparts citizens to purchase rape insurance.

Starting in March 2014, Michigan health insurers will not be allowed to offer abortion in their coverage except in cases where the woman's life is in danger.  Folks with ladyparts in Michigan instead will have to purchase a separate new policy (that does not exist yet) in anticipation that they might be raped, and/or would possibly want an abortion.

But it gets better.  Even in cases of rape or incest, if said ladypart lady wants her abortion covered but has not purchased said special insurance (that does not exist yet) beforehand, well, she is SOL.

Look.  This bill is dead in the water already.  It will be tested in the courts, and demolished.  And, the Michigan GOP know this.  This is a deliberate poke in the eye to all women across our country.  The GOP does not like women, and I do not see that attitude changing any time in our near future.  It is disgusting.  UGH!

************

Meanwhile, on a much lighter note, I had a good chuckle over tea last Friday, reading Jeremy W. Peters' NYT story about how Harry Reid has gone too far this time, what with his using the nuclear option, and finally getting so many of those backlogged presidential appointments confirmed.  Gosh dang it, if the Senate might have their holiday plans scuppered this year! The poor lambs!

The GOP blame Harry Reid, natch, whilst clutching their pearls.  The incivility! Yet, no one in the GOP Senate caucus think that using every single technicality they have at their disposal, including holding up every single confirmation for a day-long "debate" has anything to do with why they are still at the Senate, and not knocking back eggnog 'round the fire with their families.

Those day-long debates are awfully long, and the GOP have got to say a whole lot of really really stupid shit just to keep the lights on.  But the money quote for me has got to be (Ayn) Rand Paul, who said, “Senate Democrats have for petty partisan reasons taken away the power of Congress, taken away one of the checks and balances on a rogue presidency.” (Italics mine.)

I know he has time to fill.  He has got to keep obstructin' up a storm, and is liable to say just about anything, but, it would be nice if someone from the frickin' Courtier Press could please ask him exactly what he means by a "rogue presidency".

Does Paul mean Obama is not eligible to be president? Or, that the past two elections have been rigged? Please tell us what you mean, Senator.

These asshats are not public servants.  They are ... well ... asshats!

Oh, dear. Ron and Rand are in town, and that has got Mittens

All a-flutter.  Mittens is desperate to change the roll-call rules at the last minute, to ensure that not a single Ron Paul delegate gets a chance to be heard.  Well, what else is new, really? Because Mittens sure will not be talking about his new (latest?) "nuanced" views on abortion, which do not jibe with the RNC Platform, his Veep pick, or Todd "Magical Ladyparts" Akin's.  Or, about Romneycare, which Mittens has suddenly dragged out of the closet in a pathetic attempt to win women voters, and, which, natch, stands in stark opposition to the RNC Platform, his Veep pick, and all the lovely Teabagging Koch-fiend crazies on the floor.

Why go over all that health care poop again? Really.  We all know you will have the Ladyparts Vote all wrapped up after Ann and LL Cool P speak this week.  He is soooooo hunky.

Meanwhile, here is some digby goodness about our friends with Ladyparts getting the right to vote.  Plus, some more Ladyparts digby goodness, too.  (Shhhhhh, they say the v-word in that song, .... )

Hobbits, Orcs, and John Galt.

Do the Paul Pere et Fils even know that Rand was a hard-core atheist?
Yup, for those folks still in arrested development, who never really grew out of their Lord of the Rings/Atlas Shrugged Junior High/High School phases, I have found a place for you.

In fact, it would really benefit all of us if you, the Rand-ites would just Go Galt, already and do most, if not all, your social networking right here.

(Man, I am sooooooo tempted to sign up and check it out but there are two problems.  One, I imagine it has got to be worse than taking a handful of Seconals trolling there and two, I'd get kicked off in no time flat, trying to inject some life in to these fifty year old tweens.)

This is how

Chicken-shitted and venal and awful the GOP is today.  They keep talking about "reforms" for Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid when so many of us already know that they want to kill all those programs.  The GOP has been wanting to kill those programs ever since each one of them began.  What a bunch of cowards.  And liars.

Hell, at least the wacky Paul family tell you out front what they'd like to do.  It is still grossly wrong.  But at least they're honest.

(I will say this, though:  My fave dude, Rand Paul voted against the Ryan budget 'cause he said, It was not austere and tuff enuff, knowing full well his budget would never get close to passing the Senate.  This was a very savvy move, actually, from the little creep, because now he looks manly to the Teabaggers and he has a no vote on the Ryan Debacle of Prosperity.)

Well, we saw this

Coming, didn't we? I mean, dint we all see this in our future?

Mr Issa (R-CA) has doubled down on the subpoena/hearing frenzy.  He wants investigations all day every day until either Obama is impeached or voted out of office.

The GOP does not have even a majority in the Senate, much less the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious sixty vote miracle threshold to actually get anything done.  Besides, the GOP never want Government to work (except to line their pockets and shock doctrine the country, enabling them to line their pockets [& Wall Streets] just that much more.)

The Dems did the same fucking thing in '06.  Except they "took impeachment off the table."  If anyone deserved impeachment it was W.  So, the Dems brought up embarrassing votes for the GOP minority (which did in the v long run pay some dividends for '08) and harassed that buffoon of an Attorney-General in to early retirement.  (& that is all we got out of it, Rove keeps cackling on Fox News, concern trolling for the Dems all he's worth; the DoJ is still littered w/ old Bush, born-again assholes who are really really, I mean, really bothered by the New Black Panthers [jeez]; tore down ACORN w/ a pathetic phony sting; I mean it is endless.)

So, here we go, get ready to hear aboot:  birth certificates, crappy climate change scientists, any state trip or vacation the Obama's fucking take, the Weather Underground, Van Jones, any fucking liberal who has ever took a stand once in their fucking life to make this a better country for all its' citizens, not just the CEOs & Chamber of Commerce dicks.

I mean, the Charles de fucking Gaulle, of these assholes:  Our buddy (Ayn) Rand Paul has already come to Jesus, brother:  & suck on this.  The teabaggers don't give a shit, they accomplished almost accomplished their goal.  They will always vote against their best interests.  Whether it is a culture war issue, the fact that Obama is black, Pelosi is a woman from San Francisco, Reid is a Mormon, Barney Frank is gay, or they just do not like the letter D.

Read Thomas Frank.

Policy wise these next two years are going to suck v hard.  & I am going to be a loud-mouthed vulgarian.  So, get used to it.

The GOP are not public servants.  Have not been for a while.  & there will be no new teabagger revolt when idiots like (Ayn) Rand Paul fall in to line w/ the establishment GOP Washington villagers.  The teabaggers will swallow whole whate'er their Establishment Masters put before them.  I mean, hell, it was rich GOP assholes who funded their two year long, "We're populists" party.

Two years of pain.

But, hey, the people have spoken, right? Right, ...
