Always always always remember

That the vast majority of Sports Owners -- oh gosh! Look, the NHL is still in another lockout -- are swine.  I will repeat that:  Sports Owners are swine.

Watch big Union man Socialist John Sayles' film, Eight Men Out.  That'll learn ya.

Thank gosh for folks like Marvin Miller, then, who passed away today at ninety-five years of age.  Peace out brother.  Goodbye, baby, and amen.

See, even Texas legend Nolan Ryan is a Union Man!

All my love,
Michael

Yes, that is right:

Marvin Miller, Joe Niekro and The Ryan Express enjoy some coffee in Manhattan, 1980.
Even Texas Legend, Nolan Ryan is a Union Man.

All congratulations

To the San Francisco Giants.  The torture is finally over.

The Rangers have a lot to be proud of:  They won their first ever playoff series.  They won the American League Pennant, beating the Yankees to earn it.  And they were the first Texas team to win a game in the World Series.  Houston was swept in its' only appearance.  Plus the Rangers are going to be receiving a bushelful of awards, to wit:  MVP (Hamilton), Gold Glove (Hamilton), Silver Slugger (Hamilton, Cruz possibly), Rookie of the Year (Neftali Feliz), Comeback Player of the Year (Vlad Guerrero), Manager of the Year (Ron Washington).  Plus they got that that butt-ugly AL Champion trophy (which, as the Rangers have been so awful for so long and had ne'er been anywhere near winning a pennant, I honestly did not even know that you got a fucking trophy if you won a pennant!) and Josh won the ALCS MVP.

The Rangers are under new ownership and have just made beaucoup of bucks w/ their playoff run & I think they have a shot at retaining Cliff Lee.  Plus, just in general, Greenberg & Ryan are ready to increase payroll anyhoo.

I really thought I'd never live to see the Rangers in the World Series.  Who knows? The future for Ranger fans certainly looks bright.  They might make it again in the near future.  Here's hoping we win the whole fucking thing next time.

Love you all,

mds

P.S.  103 days until pitchers and catchers report in Arizona.

It is crazy

& wonderful to see the Rangers' GM Jon Daniels go all-out this season.  To wit, Gosh our catching situation is a mess! Here's Benji Molina.  Harden & Feldman not working out as your 1 & 2 guys in the rotation? Fine, let's trade for Cliff Lee.  Had to give up Smoak, a switch-hitting 1B prospect who could be Teixeira 2 for Lee, though.  And Chris 'Crash' Davis still ain't working out? Okay, here's Jorge Cantu.  Damn, Kinsler is going to be out for a month.  Alright, meet Christian Guzman.  Heck, we even got rid of Saltalamacchia to the Red Sox (they have loved him for a long time, they must know they can fix him somehow.  Good luck w/ that.) for cash so we can sign our draft choices.  Then yesterday Harden comes off the DL, looks great, like his old self, meaning if he's really back, then that is like yet another fabulous deadline deal.

All this while the team is in bankruptcy and up for auction this week.  Woo-hoo!

I think Nolan Ryan & Daniels don't think they'll be here next year and are going for it all, trying to win the whole goddamn thing.

Crazy time to be a Ranger fan right now.

Okay, so here is

What is going on w/ the Rangers' starters:  Colby Lewis is channeling Nolan Ryan, CJ Wilson is channeling Kenny Rogers (Wilson was a lefty closer converted to starter, just like Rogers) & Rich Harden is channeling Bobby Witt circa 1986.

Harden better turn it around, Holland looked great against the A's, & Tommy "Big Game" Hunter is soon to return to the big club.
